Sometimes you go to a sewing expo planning to behave.
And sometimes you come home with a fabric that makes you smile.
I found a small piece of this whimsical print featuring young ladies reading, painting, and playing music — and I couldn’t leave it behind. It felt soft. Creative. A little nostalgic. Not our usual rugged look… and that’s exactly why I wanted to try it.
I turned the fabric into small patches and paired them with our classic waxed canvas Small Cedar Bucket Bags.
The result? A little toughness. A little storybook charm.
The Details:
-
Bag Style: Small Cedar Bucket Bag
-
Material: 10.1 oz waxed canvas
-
Height: 10."
-
Base: 5.5" round
-
Pockets: 3 exterior pockets (each 6" x 5.25") reinforced with rivets and wrapped in a second layer of waxed canvas
-
Patch: Whimsical art-inspired fabric, sewn and secured to the exterior
-
Closure: Grommets with drawcord
-
Handmade: In our Pacific Northwest workshop
Each bag features a different illustration — reading, music, or painting — and each patch was cut from a very small amount of fabric I picked up at the expo. When they’re gone, they’re gone.
Why It Works
These still have all the rugged durability of our standard Cedar Bucket Bags:
-
Great for small gear
-
Foraging finds
-
Art supplies
-
Journals
-
Snacks
-
Everyday carry
But they also carry a softer energy. Creative. Thoughtful. A little unexpected.
They may not be our usual style — but sometimes the woods have room for poetry too.
